4 Tips to Handle Stress when Buying a House

Buying a home can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are four things you can do to reduce the stress.

Make sure your finances are in order. Pick a solid respected lender in your area and plan for the what if’s.

Be prepared to move fast. Even in a slowing market good houses don’t last. To get to know the area and do a drive by before your scheduled showing time. This will make you feel better if you have to make a quick decision.

Have a plan, if you're not finding the right house. If you’re currently renting check with your landlord and see if you can sign a month-to-month lease. If you can’t do that check with your parents or friends, or rent an Airbnb. Not feeling the pressure of being homeless and having to make decisions to avoid homelessness will help tremendously.

Keep the big picture in mind. This is suppose to be fun, you’re buying a home, building equity and planning for your future. This is a good thing, the right house is out there. Enjoy the journey.

It's normal to feel a little stress when buying a house, even if you've been planning it for months. Just remember to lean into the excitement and your real estate agent to guide you through it.
