Characteristics of a Tudor Home

We have a lot of Tudor homes with some or all of the characteristics in all shapes and sizes here in Minneapolis. Mostly because the Tudor architecture was popular at a time of intense population growth in the city.

Tudors are characterized by their steeply pitched roofs, elaborate masonry chimneys, embellished doorways, groupings of windows, and decorative timbering. Tudors are mainly stucco but they can also be brick. For the most part, tudors fell out of style after World War 2 and they haven't been back in style since which is what a lot of old home enthusiasts love about this style.

Here are 3 of my favorite Tudor Homes in Minneapolis.

They don't get much cuter than this one in the Kenny Neighborhood.
The peak and that arched front door are just two of the characteristics of a Tudor.
This one has them all; a steeply pitched roof, an elaborate masonry chimney, the embellished doorway, with a strong castle vibe, a groupings of windows, and decorative timbering.

I hope you enjoyed learning about the characteristics of a Tudor. Be sure to check back because I will for sure be posting more about this style.
