Freshen Up Your Home for Spring

There's no denying it, I've got the bug! Spring is in the air or maybe more accurately stated, Spring is on the calendar. It's time to say good bye to winter and get our lives and our closets ready for the season ahead. But if you live in Minnesota like we do, it's much too early and cold to throw open the windows and paint the front door, so to get us through these last few weeks, this is what I've been doing instead.

  1. Pack away your winter coats, boots, hats and mittens. But before you say good bye for the season make sure you wash everything and make sure it has a match. If you have kids, now is also the perfect time to say good bye to things you know won't fit next year and create a shopping list.
  2. Clean out your fireplace and put the fireplace accessories away. We like to take ours outside for the season. Backyard fires are one of our favorite Spring activities.
  3. Clean your bedding and pack away the heavy blankets. It's time for lighter fabrics and a few less pillows and throws.
  4. Re-hang your art in new places and buy some fun new pillows in bright spring like hues for a fresh new take on your rooms decor.
  5. Get a new plant. Nothing says welcome to spring like a fresh new spider plant place on your kitchen counter with some pretty little blossoms. Not a plant person buy some tulips and place them on your dining room table instead.

It's a short and simple list but wow do they make an impact. Your space and your mind will feel better and ready for the season ahead.

From all of us at Matt Engen Group thanks for reading.
